Our History

In 1954, following his natural inclination towards medicine and related technologies Silvio Franco Zaccanti founded the company and started a journey full of passion for research and innovation in the medical field. 
Thereafter, the driving force of the business has always been the need for research to develop instruments, devices and solutions aimed at improving the performance of national health care by raising the quality of its services.

This goal was shared and pursued by the second generation leading the company: Carlo Zaccanti, Silvio Franco’s son and a far-sighted businessman, made Zaccanti S.p.A. a national reference point in the healthcare sector.
Committed to researching new tools that could replace traditional surgery practices and reduce their invasiveness, Carlo was the first Italian entrepreneur who understood the role that minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery would play in the future, shaping the evolution of surgical techniques.
Carlo was the first to believe in the quality of Karl Storz products and began to import them to Italy directly from Tuttlingen, contributing to the diffusion and appreciation of the brand among Italian surgeons.
He died tragically in 2007 during a business trip to Caracas, leaving a huge void in the company and in the local business world.

The third generation of management began when Salvatore Bocchetti was appointed CEO of Zaccanti S.p.A.  The company became an integral part of the Bocchetti Group and was profoundly renewed, its internal structure was changed by hiring highly specialised people, consolidating and broadening the range of partnerships with leading companies in the sector, and continuing research on new technologies. It became a point of reference for national private healthcare facilities and invested in cultural, scientific dissemination and training projects through an active collaboration with professors, key opinion leaders and universities.
